Christmas Card and Letter 2011

December 5, 2011

Merry Christmas Friends and Family,

Can you believe it’s that time of year again to sit down and write your Christmas letters and send out your Christmas cards? Well, I can’t! This year has been very good to the Jensen Family and we are not taking it for granted in any way. We started out the year house hunting and quickly found out that building a home was the way for us to go. We started our building process in March and really enjoyed every minute of our experience. We moved into our new home here in Owasso the end of September and love, love, love it. Hopefully we will be able to raise our kiddos here and call this house our home for a very long time.
Chris is still up to his bag of tricks. He is coming up on his 10 year anniversary with Wencor and is still loving it. Chris travels quite a bit but works from home when he is not traveling. The kids love that when Dad is home he is really home. Chris loves that he is “flying under the radar” at church and has not been given a calling, yet. We will see how long that lasts. Chris still enjoys golfing when he is on a “business trip” and loves to catch the “occasional” game on TV. Doesn’t matter what sport, he watches them all.
I am loving my new house but not loving to clean my new house. I guess it is a good thing the kids are getting older and I can start this thing called “child labor”. I hear it is pretty cheap. At church I was just called to cub scouts to help out the wolf pack. It’s awesome because I know nothing about Scouts, I mean nothing, and Dane is a wolf. I get to help him out and learn the process as we go. I have to admit Scouts is a little intimidating but I am looking forward to the challenge. I still love reading when I get the chance, baking and eating yummy food. I am really good at eating yummy food.
Dane turned 8 this year and was baptized, we are so proud of him for his choice to do so. Dane has also given 2 talks in church, already, and considers himself a pro at speaking in church. “No biggie”, he says. Dane is still into sports BIG TIME. Golf has kind of taken a back seat this year but baseball and basketball are going strong. Dane is playing a year up in basketball and is the smallest and fastest kid on his team. He is a great little competitor and we love him for it.
Maggie is about to turn 7 in a month and we call her Maggie “Pinkalicious” after her favorite book character. She also wears a lot of pink…when do girls outgrow this phase? Anyone? Maggie loves having her own room and being able to get away from her brothers a little bit. She started basketball a couple of weeks ago and loves it. I think she mostly likes wearing the uniform with matching bow in her hair and seeing her friends for practice and on game days more that actually playing. Oh well.
Cooper is 5 and started Kindergarten this year and loves his teacher. Does Cooper’s teacher love him? Probably not always but most of the time, I think, if I had to take a guess. Cooper loves mischief and is really good at it. He plays really well with Tuck, too. Cooper gets Tuck to do things for him so he can say, “Tuck did it , not me” followed by “and I’m telling the truth”. Is he telling the truth, yes. Is he up to no good, yes. Cooper is also loving basketball. He is by far the smallest kid on the court. Cooper is really good at running plays but is still about 2 feet from making his first basket. Someday he will make it, probably not this year.
Tuck is 2 and is hilarious, he cracks us up. Except for when he is screaming because Cooper is too close to him. That is not so hilarious. Tuck loves to play outside and would never come inside if he was calling the shots. He loves all kinds of dogs especially hotdogs for lunch. Tuck walks around woofing, barking and growling usually holding some kind of stuffed animal. We love this kid and are so glad he is apart of our family. Now if we could just get him to stay in Nursery on Sundays life would be perfect.
We love this time of year. The celebration of our Savior’s birth is a magical time of reflection. We can’t help but pause, look around and count the blessings we have received from our Father in Heaven. The greatest blessing of them all, the gift of His only begotten son. We hope our letter finds all of our friends and family doing well this Holiday Season. With our 4 kids only getting older and busier we are no doubt in for another fun and crazy year. We love you all.

Drumroll, Please...

Okay, here is the long awaited before and after pics and results of my 2011 weight loss journey. I have been promising the results for a while now and here they are, finally. I must say I am still very embarrassed to reveal these before pictures and stats. I know I had a pretty good excuse of just having a baby to blame my weight on but is that really a good excuse for letting yourself go? Enough talk here is the beginning...
July 2010:
July 2011:
Here are the before and after stats to go along with the pictures:

Before: July 2010
Weight 169, Chest 40, Waist 39, Hips 44, Right thigh 23.5, Left thigh 24, Right arm 13, Left arm 13.25

After: July 2011
Weight 124, Chest 27, Waist 30, Hips 37.5, Right thigh 18.5, Left thigh 19, Right arm 11, Left arm 11.25

The difference:
Weight -45lbs, Chest -13", Waist -9", Hips -6.5", Right thigh -5", Left thigh -5", Right arm -2", Left arm -2"

There it is, all out in the open, no more hiding and no more being ashamed of my weight. My goal was to get to my wedding weight and I am still 5lbs from my goal but hope to get there soon. My favorite result of my weight loss is getting back to my 9 1/2 minute mile average. A year ago I was struggling to average a 15 minute mile. I enjoy running again and that makes everything I went through worth it.

Discovering Facebook=No Time For Blogging

I discovered Facebook about 2 months ago and talk about a serious time sucker! I have decided to be responsible, if you can call wasting time on the internet responsible, and divide my internet time up equally between Blog and Facebook. So here I am during my blog time updating the past 4 months of highlights. We really had a lot going on. Wish I would of not let myself get this far behind.

March-
Happy Birthday to Dr Seuss Homemade Costume Day at School
We decided to build a home in Owasso. It is scheduled to be completed Oct 1st. Here is the lot...
Interior colors...
Exterior colors dk khaki and navy blue(3rd one down)... We are so excited and can't wait.
April-
Dane turned 8 on the 3rd and April was pretty much all about Dane. He started Cub Scouts and won 1st place at his 1st pinewood derby.
Dane wanted a Houston Texans cake, of course...
Dane went online and designed his own Chucks for his birthday. I think they are pretty awesome, he did a great job.
Instead of having a friend party Dane opted to go race go carts with his family. Smart choice, we had a blast...
Nana and Grandpa came up for the weekend to hang out at the Tulsa Zoo with us and the Bird's...
But more importantly Nana and Grandpa drove up to share in Dane's special day of getting baptized. As a mother I could not be prouder of Dane. He is such a special spirit...
Dane also graduated from t-ball and started coach pitch as a 2nd baseman...
Batter Up...
Enough about Dane. Here is Maggie as an adorable little dancing lamb for her Kindergarten musical...
And Tuck enjoying the family Easter tradition of "Peeps on a Stick", yummy...
May-
Pretty much included all of the end of school activities like field days, field trips and end of school parties, which of course, I forgot to photograph but we will never forget.
Cooper's Pre-K production was called "Back on the Farm" and he danced a little jig to Cotton Eyed Joe. It was hilarious...
Tuck is an absolute joy. He loves to bear crawl...
and Tuck's favorite past time is wearing shoes on his hands. We have random shoes all over the house at all times...
June-
Summertime has begun and we party right. We swim everyday and eat lot's of Popsicles, it's the only way to spend summer vacation...
After updating our Blog I remembered why it's been awhile since I have done so, it takes forever with our Hick Internet connection. We have a lot more to look forward to before school starts in August and my goal is to keep our blog current. Wish me Luck with my Internet Time Management.

Catchin' Up is Fun To Do

Yes, I am finally catching up our blog. January and February were crazy busy but we survived and now it is March. What? I think I go to bed at night and when I wake up I missed a month, or 2.
January started off with a bang, literally. I woke up unusually early New Years day and headed to the starting line of the Texas Marathon and Half with 9 other family members. Yes, being totally out of shape and 35lbs overweight I attempted to run a half marathon. It was so much fun to have that much cheering and support while running. I finished my half about the same time Steve (my brother in law) finished his whole marathon. Not a PR, to say the least, but it kicked off my weight loss challenge of 2011.
On January 3rd I turned 30 and decided to attempt the HCG Diet. In 30 days I lost 20 lbs. I have been able to keep it off for about a month now and plan to start round 2 of HCG in the middle of March. 20 down 20 more to go.
Maggie turned 6 on January 18 and wanted a very PINK birthday. When is she going to out grow the PINK STUFF?
The kids played basketball in a Baptist Church League here in Oklahoma and had a blast.
The end of Jan. beginning of Feb. we had 2 weeks of NO SCHOOL SNOW DAYS. Wait a minute didn't we move here from Utah to get away from snow? Here are some pictures of the kids playing in the snow on one of the days that was not below -0 degrees wind chill. So freaking cold!
The end of the month my sister and her brood came up for a visit and of course we headed to the Tulsa Zoo for some entertainment. Here are some pics,
This looks funny, right? I am so bad.
Here is Tuck with the tortoises. He could NOT get close enough to these guys. He just loved them.
And last but not least the train ride back to the front of the zoo. Every kid loves this part.
More posts soon to follow. We have a lot going on in the next couple of weeks. Check back later for those updates.

New Year and an Updated Blog

New Year and an updated blog. Let's see what the year has to offer.
